Infinitive of Purpose
When a verb is used to express the idea that an action is taken in order to do something else. Use the infinitive form to express a purpose. The alternate form 'in order to' can also be used in formal situations.
Example:
I will work any job to settle a debt.
In order to put you in our will, you will need to make a revocable trust to honor our wishes.
We are developing this portfolio to showcase our creative talents.
In order to compete for consumers it is imperative that bank lending rates be competitive.
The infinitive of purpose is a verb used to indicate the reason for the action taken.
