Infinitive of Purpose
When a verb is used to express the idea that an action is taken in order to do something else. Use the infinitive form to express a purpose. The alternate form 'in order to' can also be used in formal situations.
Example:
I will work any job to settle a debt.
In order to compete for consumers it is imperative that bank lending rates be competitive.
To reach an agreement, they voted.
You can use this fund to settle a debt.
The infinitive of purpose is a verb used to indicate the reason for the action taken.
