Read large numbers in groups of hundreds. The grouping order in English is as follows from most to least:

trillion
billion
million
thousand
hundred
tens

In British English, include 'and' between the hundred and the tens. In American English, do not use 'and' between the hundred and tens. Notice that hundred, thousand, etc. is NOT followed by an 's'.

Two hundred NOT two hundreds

789- seven hundred eighty nine

British English

Example:

524- five hundred twenty four

621- six hundred twenty one

Thousands

The remaining examples use American English.

Example:

86.417- eighty six thousand four hundred seventeen

"13,912- thirteen thousand nine hundred twelve"

Millions

234,700,000 - two hundred AND thirty-four million seven hundred thousand

American English

Example:

"600,854,123- six hundred million eight hundred fifty four thousand one hundred twenty three"

"123,987,456- one hundred twenty three million nine hundred eighty seven thousand four hundred fifty six "

Speaking About Numbers

Numbers are read in the following order in English

trillion, billion, million, thousand, hundred

Example:

2,350,400 => two million three hundred and fifty thousand four hundred
