Infinitive of Purpose

When a verb is used to express the idea that an action is taken in order to do something else. Use the infinitive form to express a purpose. The alternate form 'in order to' can also be used in formal situations.

Example:

I repaired the pressure gauge to bring the plant up to safety protocols.

I redesigned the price tag to make the product and price more appealing.

We are developing a pop up sorter to move products.

We are developing a guidance system that will allow us to move towards total automation.

The infinitive of purpose is a verb used to indicate the reason for the action taken.
