Prepositions of Place, Similarity and Function
Use 'in' with countries, cities, towns and regions.
Example:
There was not a single factory with any safety stock in the USA.
They use different costing methods in Austria.
Use 'at' for place in a city, town or village.
Example:
I'll meet you at the Starbucks to discuss your questions about seasonality and how to overcome other problems with consumer demand.
We stopped at the airport to pick up the semi-finished goods.
Like and As
Use 'like' as a preposition to express that two are objects are similar in some characteristic.
Example:
That semi-finished product looks like a usable pipe.
What looks like a sequencing problem is a really a labor discipline problem.
Use 'as' to express the function that a person takes in an organization.
Example:
As a trucker, Tom prefers the term 'direct ship' over 'drop ship'.
The shortage of raw materials works as a limit on ecological exploitation.
